Could these be the signs of Christ’s return that we’ve been waiting for? It’s a thought-provoking question to consider!
But the Bible provides even more signs of Christ’s return. In 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Paul paints a picture of societal conditions in the last days: “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive…“.

The Bible, in Matthew 24:14, leaves us with this magnificent promise from Jesus Himself: “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations“. Yes, friends, the gospel, this good news of Christ’s love and redemption, will reach every corner of the globe!
With the advent of technology, the Gospel’s reach has expanded exponentially. Words of comfort and guidance, stories of redemption and hope, all stemming from the Bible, are shared across continents in the blink of an eye. Through smartphones and computers, the word of God is shared and read even in the most remote parts of our world.
Look around us! The Christian message is making its way into every nook and cranny of our planet. We have missionaries spreading the Word in far-flung regions, websites sharing biblical wisdom, and online services reaching out to those who can’t step into a church.
It’s simply awe-inspiring to witness the extent to which the Gospel message is spreading globally. This is not just an ordinary sign. This is the prophetic fulfillment of the Lord’s words.
5. Living in the Last Days – A Call to Preparedness
Here’s a thought-provoking question for you. Are we living in the last days? The Bible provides clear signs of these times. “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed” it says in Matthew 24:6. Do we not hear of such unsettling news frequently in our times?
Further signs are depicted in 2 Timothy 3:1-4: “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God“. This picture, painted nearly 2000 years ago, has a striking resemblance to our modern society, doesn’t it?
Now, let’s talk about the “love grown cold” that Matthew 24:12 warns us about: “And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold“. It’s hard not to relate this to our world today. Amid increasing chaos and lawlessness, it’s all too common to see love and compassion fading away. Are we not witnessing a disturbing lack of empathy and understanding in our society?
But let’s not forget this isn’t about fear or doom. Rather, it’s a wake-up call for us. If we believe we are living in the last days, how prepared are we for the coming of Jesus Christ?
Remember, we have an invitation from Jesus in Luke 21:36 to stay prepared: “But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man“. So, let’s strive to maintain our spiritual vigilance.

Isn’t it mesmerizing to contemplate the return of Jesus? In Revelation 1:7, we find a stunning picture that fuels our imagination. It states: “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him“. This image of Jesus comes in the clouds is powerfully compelling.
Imagine that moment for a second. The sky, typically a canvas of blue, suddenly shifts. A magnificent spectacle unfolds as Jesus makes His descent, enveloped by the soft embrace of the clouds. It is not a secret, clandestine event. Every eye is privy to this divine spectacle.
But, why in the clouds? Clouds in the Bible often symbolize the divine presence and glory of God. Recall the transfiguration scene where a bright cloud overshadowed Jesus, and the voice of God was heard (Matthew 17:5). Isn’t it befitting then, that Jesus is coming in the clouds, highlighting His divine glory?
Yet, the prophecy doesn’t just end there. It further states: “all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him“. A mixed reaction of awe, repentance, perhaps even fear. Why, you might ask? It’s a sight of divine majesty, but also a reminder of pending judgement.
So, as we envisage this grand spectacle, we’re not just waiting for a visual marvel. It’s a deeply symbolic, spiritual event that’s pregnant with meaning. We are called to prepare our hearts for this momentous day.

But this child, which symbolizes Christ and His kingdom, is caught up to God’s throne, signifying the triumph of God’s plan over the enemy’s intent.
This indeed can be perceived as a symbolic representation of the trials and tribulations that the faithful have to endure before the return of Jesus Christ. But the narrative doesn’t end here.
In the face of this fierce opposition, a reassuring truth reverberates throughout the book of Revelation. “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11). Isn’t it comforting to know that despite our trials, we can still overcome by the power of Jesus’ sacrifice and our testimony about Him?
This passage does more than simply narrate Jesus coming again. It underscores the believers’ endurance. The fight will be tough, and the journey exhausting.
